What is saltref.com?
saltref.com is an
electronic
reference site, database and future electronic newsletter
("enewsletter") devoted to corporate state and local tax issues: news,
policy, education, research and people.
Areas marked as
"under development" or with the programmer at work sign
 or with the graph
paper background are not final work product. For more
information on the development of saltref.com, an online development plan
has been added as a part of this web site. You can access the
development plan by clicking on Development in the "blue buttons" on the
Home Page or from the index on the About Page or by clicking on
Development Plan.
When fully developed, the
features of saltref.com will include:
State Pages - The state pages are
set up as reference centers or mini "home pages" on a selected state. By selecting a
state page the user can access an array of information on a state such as the official state and agency's web sites
and other state specific sites like state business organizations,
newspapers, libraries or databases.
In addition, each state will have links to SALT firms that provide
information such as articles, newsletters, or bulletins specific to the state. By using iframes in the
development of the state pages, users can access and review information
quickly without having to leave and re-access or re-load the state page.
The plan is that each state page will also have a news and current events
newsletter devoted to the state. This newsletter will be accessed
through the iframe just as all other information on the state. The state
pages have all been "functionally programmed" and are up and running, but
content is not scheduled to be added until Phase 6 of the
Development Plan.

Alabama is being used as a test page and is further along in
development
 than any of the other state pages. The state pages can
be accessed from the Home Page by clicking on the map of the United States and then selecting the state or clicking on the state flags/names

Firm Pages - Firm pages
have been added as a "look-up feature" for firms that provide SALT
services. saltref.com includes pages dedicated to accounting,
consulting, law and policy. The firm pages have all been "functionally programmed" and are up and running, but
firms are not scheduled to be added until Phase 6 of the
Development Plan.
